The ScrapMobile visits your home--please plan parking for our
26' bus! We will program your child's name on the rotating LED
sign to make them feel very special. You can have an unusual
party, allow all the children to express themselves creatively,
be "green" by recycling and support a non-profit that recycles
28 tons and serves 275,000 children annually.
The
children get materials in a clear plastic bag to keep down
clutter--they can take all the leftover pieces with them, plus a
bag from the ScrapMobile to keep on creating! Activities last
about 1 hour.
We bring 2 6' tables into your home to create 2
age-appropriate projects with party goers and can coordinate
with almost any party theme. They then visit the ScrapMobile to
fill a 5" x 7" x 11" bag, choosing from 22 different materials.
Preregistration and a non-refundable $25 deposit are required.

Ideal for after school and summer programs, students aged
elementary and middle school. We plan a sequence of projects
that helps students discover their creativity and can also
compliment curriculum. Hands on learning is FUN. Students can
create a journal of their ideas as they progress.
You
choose the theme for a 6 to 8 week series of workshops, 1 to 2
hours in length. Some past themes have been Science Fun, Trip
Around the World, "Green" Art and All About Me. There is a
limit of 20 youth per class.
Fun and
Fitness is a 2 hour class led by a Recreational Therapist.
Youth learn fun ways to move their body and gain self
confidence. They create something each session that makes
movement fun at home.

a project. This format works well for preschool meetings and family
nights at elementary schools. Themes are customized for each

Teacher, staff
and group leader workshops
We design
lively and customized 1 to 2 hour make and take workshops for each group. They
use recycled materials that a group would already own, "stuff" commonly
found in a home, and/or Arts & Scraps materials in learning games, positive reinforcement, fun projects, holiday ideas and curriculum-related ideas. We can
also train group leaders
in the use and introduction of our Scrap Packs, kits for 10, 25 or 35.
Just for Fun
Why should kids have all the fun? Get a
group of adults together for creative play! We'll bring
all the "stuff" and ideas. Great idea for a sorority, shower,
couples group.
Parent workshops
Parents
work with
themed kits, curriculum or just-for-fun. They learn about the
theme and enjoy the value of "play". They also
learn how to introduce a topic and draw creativity from their children
and use positive reinforcement in learning. They take the same
kit home for their children that they built, empowered help keep their
children's minds open to new ideas and gain confidence in themselves.
Workshops for
Early Childhood Providers, Parents and Preschool Teachers
Hands-on, themed classes at your
location present practical ideas and a mind set for life! Up to 30 participants visit 6 hands-on stations
using materials commonly owned and "good stuff" from Arts & Scraps, then visit
the ScrapMobile to shop for materials they just used. No projects
are duplicated in any of the 4 classes. Classes are
developed and taught by Wayne State Early Childhood professor and are
tied to current curriculum and learning research.
